From 12pm-8pm there will be a barbecue cook-off and fire festival at the Galveston County Fairgrounds in Hitchcock, TX. Here you will be able to enjoy a barbecue cook-off, live entertainment, a children's area, static displays of fire & EMS equipment, a muster, a bike show, vendors, and much more! Come meet our celebrity judges from the fire & EMS services and our local community. Eat some great barbecue and enjoy some live music. There will be alot to do and see!

Interested in seeing if you are the King of the Pits? Then we’d like to invite you to compete in the cook-off and show us your best brisket, chicken, and ribs.  We are looking for amateur teams, firehouse/EMS teams, and teams with experience to have some fun and help us raise awareness for such an important cause.

 

The cook-off will be held at the Galveston County Fairgrounds, #10 Jack Brooks Park, Hwy 6, Hitchcock, Texas 77563 on March 20, 2010.  Move in times will be from 12pm-6pm on Friday, March 19. There will be a head cook’s meeting on Friday, March 19th at 7:00 P.M. at the BBQ Cook-off headquarters. Judging containers will be handed out at this meeting. Barbecuing can begin immediately after the meeting.

Trophies will be awarded to 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place in all categories, as well as to the Grand and Reserve Champion.  In addition to the trophy, the Grand Champion will receive a cash prize of $300 and the Reserve Champion will receive $150. In the event of a tie for Grand Champion, brisket will be the first tie breaker, followed by ribs, then chicken, and then by any other category.  Entry fees are as follows:  $80.00 (meat only),    Jackpot Dessert: $20,
